A number of new cosmetics are produced every season. But do you know the destiny of animals hidden behind the brilliant advertisements? A lot of animals are dying at the cost of human desire to look good: shampoo is injected into rabbits' eyes; mice are forced to eat rouges. In Japan the Ministry of Public Welfare requires companies that market products containing new ingredients to hand in animal experimentation data. But over 2,700 materials are not required to do any more animal experiments. It is not necessary to sacrifice animals' lives if they use those materials. A number of methods of alternatives - best way of tests without using animals - are being researched and developed now.

In the western countries many major cosmetic manufactures declared to stop animal experiments. In England and Germany ,animal experiments for cosmetics are prohibited. In EU trade of cosmetics tested on animals are going to be prohibited soon. Japanese major cosmetic manufactures, however, continue animal experiments.
