What is it for?

For Safety?

People tend to believe that animal testing is a replacement for human testing. However, human beings and animals are physically different, and have different metabolisms. Therefore, their reactions toward medicine may be different, which is an important factor that can not be ignored. Although the animals may be of the same specie, the data obtained by animal testing may differ by 10 times depending on the type of lifestyle, and environment they are in. Because of the inaccuracy, animal testing has many scientific doubts. There are many chemicals that have caused severe injuries and danger to the environment. These chemicals that have caused harm have been considered "safe" because they had been animal tested. People know that waste matter coming from homes and industries, and many chemicals such as medicines and food additives have caused harm to both the environment and to human beings. if we human beings live a lifestyle without respect for the nature and other lives, then eventually the pain will come back to us as a result, and we will suffer.

For Science?

People who are not familiar with animal testing believe that it is necessary for the development of science. However, more and more professionals believe that animal testing may delay the development instead because it may provide inaccurate and mistaken information. Already in foreign countries, many doctors and scientists have formed associations acting against animal testing. Diseases have many complicated factors, which will not always reappear while animal testing. It is important that certain conditions such as the emotional state, immunity, eating habits, type of lifestyle and environment are considered and put together in order to develop sage medicines. Animal testing has developed by treating the animals as "machines" or more like objects without feelings. Because animal testing has caused many medical and ecological problems, an increasing number of people are being attracted to "holistic medical science", which puts emphasis on natural healing.

For Education?

When children dissect an animal by examining its internal organs, is it really educational? The animal's life is being wasted for that one class. Therefore, animals are being treated as "disposable" objects. Also, the dissectors are being taught to treat the animals as objects instead of living beings. There are many ways in which people can learn about how a body is formed without taking life away from animals. In other developed countries, medical students have expanded their knowledge, and have improved their technical skills without animal testing nor dissection. It has been reported that children who treat animals with violence will unconsciously develop violence towards humans also.
